oil-tank

Q: When should I replace my oil tank?

A: Oil tanks last many years, but they eventually give out. Lifespans vary depending on the humidity, the thickness of the steel and more. And when tanks do fail, it’s hard to see it coming, because they can erode from the inside out.

Q: What’s the best way to evaluate my tank?

A: We can use an ultrasonic metal scanner provided by TankSure to measure the thickness of your tank before it wears out. If you haven’t had your tank evaluated in three years, and it’s more than 30 years old, it would be smart to get this done now, or when we are tuning up your system.

Q: What if it’s time to replace it? What are my options?

A: Today’s oil tanks are light years ahead of the old models. They feature double-wall construction that includes an outer tank of corrosion-resistant galvanized steel. One manufacturer actually gives a 30-year limited product warranty and a 10-year insurance policy of up to $2 million to cover cleanup costs in the rare event of a leak.
