Serving Frederick MD and Surrounding Communities is Our Privilege!

Located in the north-central part of Maryland, not far from the bustling Baltimore metropolis, the City of Frederick, is the namesake and county seat of the largest county in the State: Frederick County. With a 2012 population of 65,239, this medium-sized city offers just the right balance between convenience and friendliness.

The city’s downtown district is known for its unique skyline which features the “clustered spires” of its numerous historic churches. From its quaint historic center, ranked one of the United States’ “Greatest Neighborhoods” in 2010 by Forbes Magazine, Frederick fans out into more modern architecture and environs the further one ventures from the center of town into the suburbs and the outlying State Highway 85 business corridor.

Frederick MD historic attractions include the following:

The Journey Through Hallowed Ground http://www.hallowedground.org/.  The local leg of this historic trail encompasses an incredible array of historic sites, including parks, battlefields, a cemetery, military barracks, and beautiful, scenic landscapes that tell the story of this historically significant region. One major stop on the trail is the town’s incredible 50-block Historic District, which features over 200 historic structures, including museums, antique stores, art galleries, specialty shops, theaters, and restaurants. Various downtown events are held year-round, so watch the local listings during your visit.

Downtown Historic Tours: To cater to the needs and interests of differing groups, various historic tours of the downtown area are offered. These include Weekend Walking Tours, Murder & Mayhem Walking Tours, and Student Walking Tours, along with Step-On Guide Service to help tour groups that arrive by bus get the most from their excursions. More information about these tours and other area features is available on the local historical society’s website. Information about other local landmarks is available through the County Landmarks Association.

A recreation brochure is also available through the local Parks and Recreation Department. Other downtown events and information are offered by the Downtown Frederick Partnership, and an online calendar of local events is also available on the city’s community website.

The area’s climate is moderate, with relatively mild winters and mostly moderate summer temperatures. Summer temperatures do, however, rise to higher levels for several weeks a year, for a combined total of 26 90-degree-or-higher days during the months of June, July, and August. The region averages 200 sunny days per year and boasts an annual winter snowfall level of only 19 inches – a level significantly below the national average of 25 inches. Annual rainfall for the area (40 inches) is, however, a few percentage points above the 37-inch national average.
