When you are constantly on the go, you need home heating and cooling systems that can keep up — especially in Maryland where the summers can be terribly humid and the winters close to freezing. After all, do you really have time to deal with getting your air conditioner fixed?
Instead of expecting your heating and cooling unit to perform as efficiently as you do, schedule regular maintenance for your HVAC system and know that you’ll be comfortable all year long.
What is Maintenance?
Maintenance is a preventive service. Think of it like a tune-up or oil change for your car. It is part inspection, part prevention. Maintenance generally includes cleaning system components, replacing filters, and lubricating moving parts. It may also include checking ducts, evaluating coils, and monitoring refrigerant levels.
What are the Benefits?
Even newer air conditioning and heating systems need maintenance. These systems have filters that need to be cleaned and moving parts to lubricate. Without that, air flow slows through the system (if the system doesn’t break down altogether). This makes heating or cooling very inefficient. In turn, the system simply doesn’t work as well. It costs you more to get the same type of cooling. In addition, when you don’t have regular maintenance, the air quality is worse, the indoor humidity higher, and the comfort level lower.
Do I Need Maintenance?
Everybody needs preventive maintenance. Efficiency and comfort are very real concerns, but there are other reasons you might need a maintenance plan. For one, do you really want to take off work to handle a heating or cooling emergency? Without maintenance, system breakdowns are frequent. Further, did you know that you could be voiding your warranty by not having regular maintenance on your system? Many warranty agreements require a licensed HVAC professional to look at your system annually, if not more often.
